For a mid-size truck like the Tacoma, minimizing weight is critical to preserving factory handling, acceleration, and fuel economy. Our aluminum plates provide exceptional strength at a fraction of the weight of steel. Plus, aluminum is naturally corrosion-proof and will never rust, even after deep scratches from rocks.

The RIVAL system offers a significant upgrade in both material thickness and coverage. Our plates are made from 1/4-inch (6mm) aluminum, which is substantially thicker and stronger than the standard TRD plate. Furthermore, our 3-piece system provides comprehensive protection for the engine, transmission, and transfer case, covering far more of the vulnerable undercarriage than the single factory plate.

Not by itself. The non-TRD/Pro/Trailhunter Tacoma models lack the necessary factory-welded front crossmember for mounting the engine skid plate. You must purchase and install the required heavy-duty crossmember to complete the installation on those specific trims.

The new generation of Tacoma Hybrid trucks has a different undercarriage layout due to the placement of hybrid system components. A different transmission skid plate is engineered to fit those specific contours and mounting points, which differ from the non-hybrid versions.
