Description

RCI Offroad Engine Skid Plate | 2009+ F-150 / 2007-2017 Expedition

American Manufactured. 100% Bolt-On. Ultimate Underbody Defense.

The Ultimate Defense for Your Drivetrain

Whether you’re sliding over jagged rocks or hitting a surprisingly deep pothole on the job site, your truck's most expensive components are completely exposed. The RCI Offroad Engine Skid Plate provides the ultimate defense for all on and off-road hazards.

Engineered for the 2009-Present F-150 and 2007-2017 Expedition, this skid plate is designed for daily drivers, overlanders, and work trucks alike. Don't rely on factory plastic or compressed fiberboard; upgrade to precision-engineered armor that is built to last.

The Problem & The Solution:

The Pain: Factory "protection" is often just a fiberboard cover that disintegrates or thin metal that buckles. Damaging your EPAS unit or oil pan can cost thousands.
The RCI Solution: We provide a Direct Bolt-On, 6-point mounting system in heavy-duty 10ga Steel or 1/4" Aluminum to ensure your adventure doesn't end on a tow truck.

Full Component Coverage

Protects the expensive EPAS power steering unit, front differential, cross-member, engine bay, and low-hanging intercooler.

No Drilling Required

Direct bolt-on addition to existing factory attachment points. Installs in minutes with provided hardware.

Easy Maintenance

Two-piece design allows removal of subsections. Access oil filters by removing just two bolts—no need to drop the whole plate.

Off-Road Optimized

Smooth, flat surface designed to easily slide over obstacles rather than catching and hanging up your truck.

Bumper Compatible

Mounts to frame horns behind tow hooks, ensuring no interference with aftermarket bumpers or hidden winches.

Premium Materials

Choose between heavy-duty 10ga Steel or rust-proof 1/4" 5052 Aluminum for the best strength-to-weight ratio.

Steel vs. Aluminum: Choose Your Armor

10ga Steel: The best value for the money. It provides significant durability and comes standard with a heavy-duty black powder coat for long-lasting rust resistance.

1/4" Aluminum: The premium choice. It is extremely corrosion-resistant, lightweight, and offers a superior strength-to-weight ratio. Perfect for coastal areas or those watching their payload.

Real Owner Feedback ★★★★★

"The factory fiberboard 'skid plate' on my F-150 was literally falling off. Swapped it for the RCI 10ga Steel version. The fitment is perfect, and it actually protects the intercooler and steering rack. Oil changes are still a breeze thanks to the access panel. Peace of mind found."

Frequently Asked Questions

+ Will this fit my 2WD F-150?

No, these skid plates are specifically designed for 4x4 models. The frame mounting points differ on 2WD trucks, making them incompatible.

+ Do I have to remove the skid plate for oil changes?

No! RCI designed these with a two-piece system. You only need to remove two bolts on the front panel to slide it off and access the oil filter, making maintenance quick and clean.

+ Does this replace the fiberboard cover under the transmission?

This product is the Engine Skid Plate. To replace the OEM fiberboard cover located further back under the transmission, you will need the RCI Offroad Transmission Skid Plate.

+ Will this work with my 6-inch suspension lift?

Generally, RCI skid plates are not compatible with lift kits that utilize a drop cross-member (typically 4" lifts and larger) as the mounting geometry is changed. They are designed for stock height or leveled trucks.

+ Do I need to remove my air dam?

For 2009-2020 models, removal of the plastic air dam is required for installation. On 2015-2020 models, the air dam can often be re-attached post-install. 2021+ trucks do not require air dam removal.

Prop 65 Warning- Product may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information, go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov

Proposition 65 is a California law passed in 1986. Its goals are to protect drinking water sources from toxic substances that may cause cancer and birth defects and to reduce or eliminate exposures to those chemicals generally, for example in consumer products, by requiring warnings in advance of those exposures.

The regulation requires the State of California to revise and republish yearly a list of chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm. The current list contains over 900 naturally occurring and synthetic chemicals. This regulation also requires manufacturers to place warnings on products that contain any of the chemicals listed by the State of California. No other states require warnings of this nature, and products with Prop 65 warning language are legal to sell in all states. Detailed information regarding requirements for compliance to the California Prop. 65 is can be found at: www.P65Warning.ca.gov
